  • Rdrcr's 2001 Miata.

    I finally took a couple pictures of my Miata. Here is my favorite;

    Once I get the coilovers installed I'll take some more pics.

      I'll take some pics of the engine bay this weekend. I would have posted some already but, I need to paint the mounting brackets for the WI tank and pump since I moved the location.

            That's a good looking install. How's the AIT with your filter location. Unless I'm missing something it appears your pulling under hood temps.

              Thanks guys!

              Your observation is correct. My intake is pulling in heated underhood temps. The IAT's have increased by roughly 10 Deg F at this location compared to the suggested location behind the left front headlamp. FFS choose the intake location wisely.

              I do have additional plans to help cool the air at my intake location. What you don't see in the pics is the 3 inch hole that was drilled behind the right front headlamp. Attached to the hole is an aluminum pipe and silicone elbow that is extracting fresh air from the fog lamp opening and directing that air into the engine bay. Eventually I will add a divider plate that will separate the intake location from the rest of the engine bay. I'll have it designed so that it will have access to my fresh air plumbing to help keep that area cooler in hopes of reducing the IAT's.

                The whole objective of underhood design is to create a low pressure "enclosure" at driving speeds. The idea is to draw as much air as possible through the radiator opening.

                Allowing air under the hood will probably be detrimental to the designed pressure differential and hinder cooling.

                I guess.

                  Could be...I don't know...

                  Unfortunately, I don't have any gauges to monitor underhood or coolant temperatures.

                    Hey Rdrcr, You might want to keep an eye on your water injector line. Due to engine movement it looks like it could rub through where it's attached at the engine lift eye.

                      Thank you!

                      The WI line may appear in the pictures to by tightly secured to the engine lift hook but, it is not. It is loosely attached. However, I am always keeping a close watch on all the additions I've added to the kit to avoid any potential problems. That would be a big one.
